I hesitate to say that this is something I did for the first 29 years of my life. Always searching for acceptance... for approval... to be the coolest... the best. I'm proud to say at 29 3/4... fuck anyone who doesn't accept me for who I am... cause those who matter already approve :) It's funny how we all learn the same lessons at completely different points... and how we all need to learn them ourselves and once we learn them... try as we might... we can't teach them to people who won't listen.

I love you Pete... the fact that you are flawed makes me love you more :)

I still remember absolutely flubbing a couple jokes, one in elementary and one in high school--not only did the jokes go bad, but they put a most nasty spin on them, e.g. making light of slavery of making fun of the retarded, neither one of which being my intention... Still remember it like was yesterday. Weird.

Hmm, my childhood was spent on the other side of that fence, outcast from those little superior groups. I'm pretty sure quite a few children stretched things just as you did. The desire to be accepted by, and to even put yourself ahead of others, is very strong. Stronger still in children.
